Oxfam Trailwalker 2

I sent out some information last time about an event I am doing in August this year. So far we’ve been on 5 training walks through all sorts of weather. There’s been leeches, treacherous terrain, freezing cold and streams that threaten to wash us away. And we’ve only covered half the distance. So why bother?

We’re trying to raise money for Oxfam (formerly Community Aid Abroad). We figure if we can do something difficult like walking 100km in less than 48 hours, we might inspire some people to reach into their pockets to help others.

But you don’t have to go offline with just a tax deductible receipt and a warm feeling. One of our walkers has designed a range of gear that you can buy which will help our fundraising.

You’ll notice that my name (Adam Connor) is finally on the team page. For more information on Oxfam and their work, please visit

Please consider supporting this worthwhile effort. I only need a dollar from each of you…….. And remember I’m not getting off lightly. Our next 2 training walks will go for something like 11 and 16 hours of nearly continuous walking. The real thing will take (hopefully) a bit under 30 hours…….

Please send any questions about this to adam.connor (at) buymax.com.au or call me on (02) 8197 0333

Oxfam Trailwalker

Somehow a customer (and all round good guy- hi Alan!) convinced me that I should join him in the Oxfam Trailwalker this year. So I’m asking the subscribers on this list to please reach into your pockets and sponsor us. It would only take a couple of dollars from each of you to reach out target.

And if you think reaching into your wallet for your credit card is hard, consider this- I’ve just given up Sunday morning sleep-ins for the next 6 months! We’ve done stage 1 of the walk, and this will be way harder than the Half Marathon I’m also training for. It’s 100km through the bush in less than 48 hours.

Please consider a small donation for all the good work that Oxfam achieve..

Fitness

I’ve trained with Matthew Reid for 5 years now, initially losing about 20kg, but now I do it for other benefits. I feel better, I’m able to work harder and I’m much healthier. In fact last year I did my second City to Surf and easily beat my earlier time-  from 1982!

I made a conscious decision to eat what I like, and exercise to keep myself a little trimmer. So I never deny myself treats if I want them. Consequently my diet is ridiculously bad, but that is not Matt’s problem.

Why write about it in a work blog? Matt has done a lot for me and I think if you want a great personal trainer who will get results, you could do no better. Be prepared to work hard and feel great!

Give him a call on 0403 067 629. If you start now you’ll be in sleeveless tops by summer. Then you’ll have to invest in some ‘tough stickers’ (tattoos) to finish the image. Or maybe not.
